Pharmaceutical Head of Sales

Our client is one of the leading companies in Kenya that specializes in the manufacturing of
personal care, tissues and hygiene products.
They are market leaders across numerous product categories and have established themselves as one of the strongest consumer household brands in East Africa. They are expanding and are looking to venture into the pharmaceutical industry.
As such they seek to hire a Head of Sales guru, someone with vast experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

General Purpose: 
Promote pharmaceutical product sales through effective interaction with health care professionals and organizations to increase the awareness and use of the company's pharmaceutical products.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Develop a sales strategy to achieve organizational sales goals and revenues
Formulate sales policies and procedures, budgets, pricing schedules and rates
Set individual sales targets with sales team and oversee the activities and performance of the sales team
Build effective business relationships with health care partners and customers
Prospect for new business
distribute samples and information to licensed practitioners and health care professionals
Demonstrate product use, organize and execute sales presentations
Co-ordinate sales action plans for individual sales people and ensure sales team have the necessary resources to perform properly
Monitor the achievement of sales objectives by the sales team
Liaise with other company functions to ensure achievement of sales objectives
Evaluate performance of sales staff, provide feedback, support and coaching to the sales team
Keeping informed about the activities of health care professionals and organizations in a specific area
Keeping current with the competition's products, service offerings and activity
Track, collate and interpret sales figures
Forecast annual, quarterly and monthly sales revenue and generate timely sales reports
Conduct market research and competitor and customer analysis
Analyze data to identify sales opportunities
Develop promotional ideas and material for marketing activities
Attend trade meetings and industry conventions
Cultivate effective business relationships with executive decision makers in key accounts

Education and Experience
Business degree (preferably in science) or related professional qualification
Comprehensive understanding of health sciences like epidemiology, biotechnology and pharmacology
At least 5 years of sales management in pharmaceutical or health care industry
Experience in all aspects of planning and implementing sales strategy
Technical sales skills with good products knowledge
Proven experience in customer relationship management
Knowledge of market research
Experience in managing and directing a sales team
Relevant product and industry knowledge
Experience with relevant software applications
